The blog is named Peanut because that's what the Ultrasound Technician called the fetus when she was first surveyed. So the nickname stuck since I haven't picked a name. Peanut has 2 brothers on mommy's side: Norman and Joseph (a.k.a. Potato). She was a surprise. This is my first girl and could be the last pregnancy.

Note: Baby is not an actual peanut.
My pregnancy was a late determination due to complications that were confused with normal menstruation. As of 18 weeks, I've been diagnosed with complete placenta previa and possibly a low anterior placental placement. In addition, I don't clot easily. More tests are needed. So far, there are no other complications or abnormalities and the baby and myself appear to be healthy. However, placenta previa combined with anterior placement and clotting issues is a major complication dynamic. We also have not yet ruled out other concerns that may be associated with this condition. I will be blogging updates.

My first pregnancy suffered a placental abruption, severe hemorrhage and emergency c-section. So this would not be the first time with placenta related complications. My second pregnancy was totally normal and delivered VBAC. Go figure. I am hoping this present condition resolves itself, which happens with half of pregnancies with this complication diagnosed at this stage. Many go on to having perfectly normal deliveries. Many don't. The spectrum of possibility is very broad. I'm trying to stay optimistic.

So that is the introduction. Welcome and thank you for subscribing. I'm so excited to have conceived a girl. It's my desire that the pregnancy improves and continues. Your prayers and support are, as always, deeply appreciated.
